Lunch Money

So Ethan came home and told me that the lunch lady told him he need more lunch money. That didn't make sense to me because I had given him more than enough the week before, and he had only had HOT lunch 2 days that week. He insisted he was out of money and was scared to eat hot lunch, so I decided to call the lunch lady. (clap of thunder)
Here was our conversation:
ME-hi, I need to check on my son Ethan's lunch acct. He is telling me he's out of money already.
Lady- yes, we received your check last week, but he was in the hole $4.00, so yes, he is still in the hole $1.50.
ME- WHAT!!??? How can that be?
Lady- well, let 's see, (looking up his account)- Every day Ethan has hot lunch he is also charging ice cream or rice krispie treats to his account. Ice cream cups and rice krispies are $1.00 each, so that is where the money is going.
ME- OH MY Gosh. Why are elementary students allowed to charge junk food to their accounts without my permission?
Lady-well, that's an option the kids have in our lunch room. Would you like me to block his account so he can't charge anymore?
ME-YES- thank you.

So, thus ended my mystery of the "missing" lunch money. Party time was over for Ethan. Man, I'm glad I called the school. I think they should have to have parents authorize charging of junk first- not have to block the account later. Geesh.
For the record: Trent thought it was awesome that Ethan got away with it for 2 weeks before I figured it out.

That little stinker! I'll have to remember to check into that when Bella starts eating lunch at school next year. She'd be doing the exact same thing as your sweet little Ethan, I'm sure!!! But, I totally would have done the same thing if I EVER had that option! Good thing for responsible mommas!
